Democrat Martha Coakley conceded the Massachusetts governor’s race to Republican Charlie Baker.
Coakley’s campaign sent a statement Wednesday saying she had called Baker at 8:15 a.m. to congratulate him on his victory.
Coakley addressed her supporters at her Somerville campaign headquarters at 11 a.m. following a speech from her running mate, Steve Kerrigan.
Coakley had declined to concede after the ballots came in late Tuesday showing Baker with a narrow lead.
“The voters in Massachusetts deserved to have every vote counted,” she said Wednesday morning.
Coakley said she would not change a thing about how her campaign was run, and she thanked her team for their grassroots efforts.
