HUGHESVILLE, Md. (WHDH) — An 8-year-old girl in Maryland quickly called 911 and saved her mother’s life after she suffered a stroke.

A’nasia Clayton was at home with her mother Janee Clayton last month when Clayton’s face started to twitch. She told A’nasia that she could not feel anything on the left side of her body.

A’nasia said she had recently looked up what “stroke” means and recognized the symptoms her mother was having.

“All I remember is her face twitching,” said A’nasia.

The girl calmly called 911 and told the dispatcher she thought her mother was having a stroke. She followed the dispatcher’s instructions to unlock the door and emergency crews were able to come and help her mother.

The dispatcher told A’nasia her mother was going to be proud of her for helping and Clayton said she is. A’nasia also received an award from her town for her heroism.
