A 25-year-old Mass. Bay Community college student was arrested on Thursday for allegedly pointing a gun at a driver.
Ian Beagan, of Allston, is facing charges for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and possessing a firearm on school property, police said.
At around 11 a.m. on Thursday, a driver told an officer on Route 9 west that another driver had just pointed a gun at him, according to police.
Police say the victim was driving west on Route 9 near Cedar Street when he spotted road work ahead. The victim slowed his car and suddenly Beagan’s car pulled next to the victim, police said.
Police say Beagan honked his horn at the victim and made a profane gesture. Beagan then allegedly rolled his car window down, showed a handgun and then pointed it at the victim, police said.
The victim gave police a description and license plate number and quickly notified police.
Police quickly learned Beagan was a Mass. Bay student and scheduled to be in class.
Officers found Beagan’s car in the school’s lot and then found Beagan in a classroom.
Beagan told police he had been driving on Route 9 and had shown his gun while driving.
Officers found Beagan’s handgun in his car. Police say Beagan has a firearms license.
