WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — A former sales clerk at a central Massachusetts department store has been sentenced to up to 10 years in prison for assaulting a 13-year-old boy in a fitting room.
Francisco Barros-Gomes of Charlton was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty in Worcester Superior Court to charges of child rape and indecent assault and battery on a child.
Prosecutors say the 30-year-old Barros-Gomes assaulted the boy as he was trying on clothes at the JC Penney store in Sturbridge in November 2009.
The Telegram & Gazette reports that prosecutors said the boy's mother had stepped away momentarily to make a telephone call.
The boy, who suffered from developmental disabilities, reported the assault to his mother and store officials, who called police.
Barros-Gomes' lawyer agreed to the plea deal.
