SOUTH BOSTON (WHDH) — A South Boston brownstone was severely damaged by a fire late Monday night.

Firefighters said the brownstone on East Fourth Street appeared to be undergoing renovations. Firefighters got to the roof to knock the flames down and keep them from spreading to other neighboring homes.

Five people were displaced by the flames.

No one was injured in the fire. The damage is estimated to be around $1 million.
