Former Boston Mayor Tom Menino’s funeral procession took him on a tour of the city he loved.
The private Mass for family and friends washeld Monday at Most Precious Blood Parish in Hyde Park, Menino’s home neighborhood.
Menino’s casket was carried out of Faneuil Hall, where he had lain in state on Sunday, by state troopers.
The procession then departed Faneuil Hall on its way to several places of significance to the former mayor. City residents lined parts of the route.
Those locations included: Boston City Hall, Parkman House, Boston University, Kenmore Square, Fenway Park, Dudley Square, Grove Hall, Franklin Park, the Bowdoin- Geneva neighborhood, Mattapan Library, and Roslindale Square.
Menino was diagnosed with cancer in February. He died Thursday at 71.
