FOXBORO, MASS. (WHDH) - The MBTA has resumed Commuter Rail service to Foxboro for the first time since the pandemic began, and is expanding that service in a yearlong pilot program on weekdays.
Starting Monday, Sept. 12, Commuter Rail trains will run 10 weekday round trips between Foxboro and Boston, and the 500-space parking lot parking at Foxboro Station will be free.

We greatly appreciate the partnership of the MBTA, MassDOT and Town of Foxborough as we work to relaunch this weekday commuter service in a way that inspires economic development and is beneficial to the community and commuters alike.”
“We’re excited to again launch this weekday service pilot between Foxboro and South Station, providing access to transit for more Commuter Rail riders,” said MBTA General Manager Steve Poftak. “We continue to be committed to improving public transit across all of the communities we serve, and we look forward to analyzing the pilot’s data upon completion of the pilot.”
This trip is in Zone 4, making a one-way trip cost $8.75 and a round trip cost $17.50. A Zone 4 monthly pass with a CharlieTicket is $281, while an mTicket app monthly pass is $271.
The first train to Boston’s South Station will stop in Foxboro at 5:49 a.m., and will run throughout the day until the last trip at 10:20 p.m. The trip will take slightly under an hour. The first train from South Station will leave at 5:45 a.m. and arrive in Foxboro at 6:34 a.m., and the last one will leave from South Station at 9:10 p.m.
Weekday Commuter Rail service ran from October 2019 until March 2020, when the pandemic necessitated suspending service.
The MBTA also offers Commuter Rail service before and after events from Boston and Providence, Rhode Island to Gillette Stadium for $20.
