Part of the plan includes adding a new express train from Worcester to Boston during the morning rush hour.
More afternoon outbound trains from Boston will also be added, heading to Littleton and Fitchburg.
According to the MBTA, the new schedule will help improve consistency of announced arrival and departure times.
