BOSTON (WHDH) - The MBTA is putting new timetables into effect on nine of its 12 rail lines.

New departure and arrival times have been adjusted and will go into effect on Monday.

These changes are to improve dependability and to more accurately reflect when the trains were actually showing up.

Certain trains were consistently late, which made for frustrated passengers and fines for the company that runs the Commuter Rail, Keolis.

Keolis receives a fine for every late train.

Trips on some lines have been taken away and added to another station.

The lines affected are:

  • Fairmount Line
  • Fitchburg Line
  • Framingham/Worcester Line
  • Franklin Line
  • Haverhill Line
  • Lowell Line
  • Needham Line
  • Newburyport/Rockport Line
  • Providence/Stoughton Line

The MBTA will also begin running an express train from Worcester to Boston on Monday.
