The MBTA is preparing for cold weather on Wednesday with employees working overnight to make sure trains run smoothly during the morning commute.

MBTA officials say on Tuesday there were a few minor issues that were unrelated to the cold temperatures.

"We have a very old system. A lot of the components of our infrastructure have been built decades and decades ago," said MBTA general manager Frank DePaola.

Workers will drive the trains on the Blue, Orange, Red and Green lines overnight to make sure they do not freeze up before Wednesday morning’s commute.  Workers will also move track switches back and forth to avoid them freezing.
