Officials are investigating disabled trains on the red and green lines this morning.

The MBTA was running empty trains on the red, orange, green and blue lines Monday night in hopes of preventing problems the cold may cause.

T personnel kept operating the trains along the rapid transit lines to keep them constantly moving and prevent the trains’ critical components from getting too cold.

Crews also exercised track switches all night to prevent them from freezing up.

One of the last cold mornings the T had many problems that the state’s Transportation Secretary attributed to freezing temperatures.
