Winter is going on vacation for much of the upcoming work week! Storm threat is low until the weekend and temps are normal to above normal—living on Easy Street this week.

The reason is due to the jet stream and its configuration. Since late January that jet stream has been flowing from the arctic circle delivering an endless supply of bitter air but this week that jet stream will flow from Seattle and that means milder air! Today through Wednesday will offer above normal temps with Wednesday being the warmest of the bunch as many cities & towns reach the low to mid 50s! By late week we will see colder air return but not bitter cold, afternoon temps reach the upper 30s (normal high is 43).

In terms of storminess, we may get nicked by some sprinkles tomorrow evening from a southern storm but otherwise we are quiet for the next 5 days. The next 5 days offering temps in the upper 30s to mid 50s with no rain is just about ideal when having to melt 2-3 feet of snow! There are signs that by this Saturday our next storm may produce a messy mix of snow & rain. It’s a bit early for deets but that storm may produce enough snow for Boston to break the seasonal snowfall record (2.0″ needed for sole possession of 1st place).

Enjoy the thaw!
