The Key Storylines
Qin Kai of China has failed to win the synchronized springboard event just once in nine major international contests. The loss, however, came at this year’s World Cup — in Rio — and Qin described his performance as “irresponsible.” But Qin and partner Cao Yuan bounced back to top the podium at the 2016 World Series in Beijing. “We will keep our fighting spirit to the Olympic Games,” Cao told reporters.
