Were you still able to enjoy a “Sunday Funday” even with the cooler temperatures? We had plenty of sun to enjoy for Sunday (appropriately), but now that sunshine is out and clouds are moving in.
Monday morning will look very different from Monday evening, so you’ll need to know what to expect before heading out. We start off cool with even a touch of sun peeking through the cloud cover – and for the start of the day, we’re dry. That will change as we move into midday, as I think scattered showers will work into Boston by 11am. From that point on, the rain and the wind will continue to pick up intensity.
For runners in the first couple of waves, conditions shouldn’t be too bad. The rain really picks up the pace (as will many runners) as we get past 2pm. This is also when the wind out of the ESE will pick up intensity, making for a head wind to battle and chilly temperatures to endure. I really don’t even think we’ll make it up to the 50 degree mark in Boston tomorrow. Not that it would make much of a difference, with the wind coming off of a cool ocean at 15-25 mph, the real feel will be chilly and raw. Spectators and Red Sox fans will especially need to plan accordingly, as being sedentary will only make the struggle of the chill more real.
A Coastal Flood Advisory has been issued for overnight Monday, from midnight through 4am Tuesday. High astronomical tides coupled with the ESE wind could make for minor flooding and splash over. It shouldn’t be a big deal, but roads will be wet. Before the rain breaks up during the morning hours in Tuesday, most areas will pick up between 1-2″ of rain.
Tuesday doesn’t look too bad, once we turn off the rain. We’ll see some partial clearing in the afternoon and inland temps could make it into the mid 60s!
Best of luck to all of the runners tomorrow. What an amazing thing to conquer!
