The overall theme of the forecast is for mild air and no major storms to move in over the next 6 days. Even on day 7, the bigger storm is all rain.
However, despite the overall warmer theme, it doesn’t mean we can’t get any cool air or snow flakes. This morning proves that it’s still easy to get cold air in January as temps run in the teens and 20s. At least the skies are clear and there’s little wind. With the sun, we bounce back to 40 this afternoon.
The best chance for snow flakes moves in tomorrow. Despite the brunt of the ocean storm staying offshore, there will be some moisture that gets pulled back into New England, toward an area of low pressure to our northwest. With that moisture in place, I expect a few rain and snow showers across eastern Mass to start off Friday morning. A few rain/showers showers will be scattered about in the afternoon too. Temps will be just above freezing, so roads likely stay wet, but any burst of heavier snow showers may drop a slushy coating -1" locally.
A few flurries are possible again Saturday afternoon across northern Mass and NH as a warm front moves in. On the other side of that front…. winner, winner, chicken dinner. We’re back to near 50 Sunday afternoon and reach the mid 50s Monday. We could have a few showers Monday night with a cool front, but we’re still near 50 Tuesday.
Wednesday brings in a better chance for soaking rain and gusty winds. Highs run in the 50s again.
Late next week, back to reality as colder air pushes back in.
Enjoy your Thursday, the weekend is almost here!
