The Boston Marathon bombing film "Patriots Day" is set to start filming in the Boston area next week.

While some towns and locations have said no to camera crews, one university is giving them the OK.

Officials at MIT said they allowed the movie to be filmed on their campus.

MIT officials said the scenes being filmed there will be entirely peaceful and will not include the murder of Officer Sean Collier.

The movie chronicles the events of the marathon bombings and is set to star Mark Wahlberg, J.K. Simmons, and John Goodman, with Peter Berg directing.

7News has learned Officer Sean Collier will be featured. Collier was shot and killed by the Tsarnev brothers.

MIT said in the movie Collier will be seen driving to campus, walking to a room, and talking to graduate students, but that scene will not include the shooting.

MIT sent out a statement saying in part,

"We have decided to permit Mr. Berg to film the scenes here. We feel it appropriate that Sean’s depiction take place not at a facsimile of MIT, but rather here, where he was proud to serve, and where he is loved."

UMass Dartmouth has already said no to “Patriots Day” filming scenes on their campus, and Watertown did the same.

The movie will shoot in Dorchester, Wahlberg’s hometown. “Patriots Day” will be filming there next week for only one day.
