Folks…of all that Holiday cookies that I sample the molasses cookies could very well be my fav—the sugar cookie is still king tho. I have molasses on the brain this morning, but not just cookies. Cold air. Here in meteorological winter (December 1st-February 28th) cold air can be stubborn to dislodge and today we’ll see that first hand.
Temps are starting the day in the 20s with a warm front on the maps. Easy, right? we’ve got this! that front will cruise on through here and easily bump temps close to 50….not so fast. Removing that cold air is akin to removing molasses on a cutting board—difficult at best. Plan on temps to crawl through the 30s for the day and adding insult to injury will be clouds and eventually some scattered rain showers arriving mid afternoon (even a few sprinkles as soon as noon).
Off and on showers are with us tonight and through the day tomorrow as a storm system, weak in nature but large on areal coverage spends some quality time with us. Most towns likely pick up .5" of rain over the next two days. By Thursday, the storm pulls away taking rain with it but leaving a fair amount of clouds. A fiesty wind is also with us, adding a chill to the air.
Friday & the weekend offer sunny skies as well as seasonably warm temps–especially on Sunday with the numbers in the low to mid 50s!
