Wind and rain will kick off our work week. I think J.R. put it best: “It won’t be no Whistlin’ Dixie type of morning on Monday.” Yes, he really said that and then he started singing “Zip a Dee Doo Dah”… but I digress…
The mild weather was very noticeable this Sunday afternoon, finally breaking that cold spell that kept our temperatures below normal for 10 days straight. However, the mild weather is also coming along with wind and rain, pushing a warm front through and turning on the faucet just in time for the morning commute.
The real event moves in from the SW between 6-9 AM kicking up the gusty winds out of the SW and turning on the wet weather. Rain amounts expected are anywhere from 0.50″ up to an inch. It’s not messy through the entire day, though. With the exception of a few spot showers sticking around into the afternoon, we dry out and warm up – highs will get well into the 60s.
I said it last night, “what goes up must come down” and that is the case with the temperatures. After the peak with the warmth on Monday, temps will cool back down into the 30s by Wednesday.
If you’re traveling on the roads for the holiday, Monday afternoon and Tuesday look like great travel days. As we make it into Wednesday though, things start to look a little dicey. The rain won’t turn on until Wednesday night but some of that rain could turn over to wet snow very late. We’re still watching this storm system, and while it looks like it won’t be heading out to sea after all, it’s still tricky to pin down a rain/snow line. If I had to put money down on the day right now, I would say that interior areas could see a little snow by early Thursday morning, but coastal areas will stay with an all rain event. We’ll still have to wait another day or so to get a clearer picture.
Enjoy the milder weather while we have it, and grab that bubble umbrella for the morning!
