SPRINGFIELD, MASS. (WHDH) - The Zoo in Forest Park in Springfield is temporarily closed while employees try to recapture a monkey that got out of its enclosure.

Dizzy,  a 12-pound guenon monkey, twisted a door knob and let himself out when a zoo employee who had been cleaning the enclosure exited to answer a question from a visitor.

According to a posting on the zoo’s official website, this is a circumstance that “has never happened at the zoo and is very rare.”

The zoo said no one was in danger.

Staff members were able to find dizzy inside the zoo, but he just kept climbing trees.

He was last seen in the woods about 100 feet away from his enclosure.
