WESTON, Mass. (AP) — A young moose that thrilled Boston-area residents when it was spotted trotting down streets in two densely populated suburbs this month has apparently been struck by a vehicle and killed.
A spokeswoman for state Environmental Police says the moose was struck at around sunset Tuesday in Weston near the intersection of Interstates 90 and 95. It had to be euthanized.
The driver was not hurt, but the vehicle’s hood, windshield and roof were damaged.
The female moose appears to be the same one spotted June 1 in Belmont and Watertown and seen in the area several times since. It was struck about 7 miles from where it was first seen.
