LEBANON, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire State Police say a Rhode Island mother is dead and two others were injured in a wrong-way crash along Interstate 89 in Lebanon.

They say 38-year-old Daniel Cowdrey of Hartland, Vermont, was traveling north in the southbound lane of I-89 when he struck a vehicle driven by Ellynn Koelsch in “near head-on fashion” around 9 p.m. Wednesday near Exit 20.

Koelsch was pronounced dead at the scene. The 34-year-old North Kingston woman was with her 4-year-old son. He was taken to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center with serious injuries.

Cowdrey suffered minor injuries. He was arrested at Dartmouth-Hitchcock and was charged with felony aggravated driving while under the influence of alcohol. It wasn’t immediately known if he had a lawyer.

The accident remains under investigation.
