You know how you’re not supposed to touch the exhibits in the museum? One museum has offered a good reminder of why that rule is so important.

The National Watch and Clock Museum in Pennsylvania posted a video of a man inspecting a rare wooden clock. After poking and prodding at it for a while, the clock falls, breaking into multiple pieces.

The couple in the video are seen trying desperately to fix the shattered clock, then walk away when they can’t piece it back together.

The museum decided not to press charges of the couple but instead wants to educate visitors to follow the rules.

The director of the museum says there are more problems with adults touching objects than there are with children.

The sculpture has been in the museum for more than 20 years and won a national award in 1994. The artist, James Borden, has agreed to repair the piece.

According to the YouTube video, the couple did notify staff immediately about the clock.
