WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (NBC) — A Utah toddler almost drowned in a pool Thursday afternoon until a seven-year-old rushed to his rescue.

Cesar Galeana was walking past the pool at his apartment complex when he heard a splash and spotted something through the planks of the pool fence.

The two-year-old was face down underwater, so Cesar rushed in and pulled him out of the pool.

“I was worried. I thought he was going to die so I ran and saved him. I carried him out and then I went back to the bathroom to tell the office,” Cesar says.

First responders called his actions heroic and the toddler will make a full recovery.
