LOUISVILLE, KY. (WHDH) - The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced a recall of children’s bunk beds after it was discovered that support rails can crack or break.
The chadwick bunk bed models were sold in white and mission oak by Hillsdale Furniture and were sold exclusively at Bob’s Discount Furniture. Models were available with the option of a storage drawer, a trundle, or nothing under the lower bunk.
Approximately 20,000 beds are being recalled.
The company has received more than 650 reports of bed support rails cracking or breaking. In these reports, several incidents resulted the collapse of the upper or lower bunk. Eight injuries to both children and adults have been reported including bruising, lacerations requiring stitches, and one broken arm.
Consumers who have purchased this product should immediately stop using the bunk bed and contact Hillsdale Furniture directly to arrange free installation of replacement rails.
