EPPING, N.H. – A New Hampshire family got an unexpected surprise when they found a venomous spider in their plastic box of organic grapes.
Jennifer and Michael Rydeen bought the grapes from a Market Basket in Epping. When they arrived home, Jennifer found the black widow inside among the fruit.
“I picked up the bin and looked and I saw the spider at the bottom of the bin and said, ‘Are you kidding me?'” said Jennifer Rydeen.
Michael called Market Basket, who apologized and offered them a refund. He said he spoke with an employee who told him this is a rare occurrence.
“Just make sure to wash your grapes,” said Michael. “Wash all your fruit, you’ll never know what you’ll find.”
