Some local National Guard troops kept an annual holiday tradition going on Thursday.
The two dozen troops marched from Boston Common to Boston Children’s Hospital to deliver presents to kids who might otherwise not get Christmas presents this holiday season.
Children’s partnered with the guard in 2011 and they’ve been doing it ever since.
“The last thing they need to worry about is what they’re going to do for their families,” said National Guard Col. Jason Oberton. “And it’s something that we can do, we carry that Christmas spirit and that joy in our rucksacks and we try to take one more stressor off of people.”
The tradition has raised more than $4,000 already just this season.
