PEABODY, MASS. (WHDH) - An elderly woman was rescued by her neighbors after her house caught fire in Peabody.
The fire sparked at a house on Baldwin Street. A mother and daughter who live a few houses down called 911 and went to the house to help the woman get out. Because the fire and smoke had not reached her side of the house, the woman had no idea there was a fire.
The woman’s two neighbors helped her and her cat escape safely. No one else was home at the time.
The fire reached the house’s attic before it was extinguished and the house sustained fire, smoke and water damage. The fire appears to have started in the house’s garage but investigators said they have not determined what the official cause was.
