Drivers faced a slick and messy commute Tuesday evening north and west of Boston as snow came down.

Snow started falling at around 4:30 p.m. Commuters said driving home was difficult with the snowy roads and traffic was reduced to a crawl.

"It’s just at a bad time during the commute, just enough to mess things up," said driver Geoff Martin.

In Worcester, a parking ban remains in effect to keep main roads clear. Salt trucks and plows were also seen throughout the city.

Residents are urged to shovel sidewalks and driveways now as temperatures will drop overnight, freezing everything.
