The state is launching a new program that is designed to monitor prescription drugs, in hopes of stopping drug abuse.
Right now it can take up to 10 days for a prescription to get registered.
As a result, some abusers try to get as many prescriptions as possible over that time period.
The new program allows physicians to track that timeline and watch patients who may be crossing state lines to fill prescriptions.
