BOSTON (WHDH) - A new video of June’s escalator malfunction at the Chinatown station has been released, showing the escalator going up and then reversing suddenly, confusing those on it.
The incident occurred on June 19. No one was injured. The video shows people backing down the escalator, confused by the sudden reversal.
The MBTA took the escalator out of service following the incident while it got fixed.
The incident is not the first instance of escalator problems at T stations. In September, nine people got injured when an escalator at Back Bay station revered direction, throwing people to the ground. Many of those hurt had serious injuries.
