The NFL will be returning more than $700,000 of taxpayer’s money that was paid to teams for what have been called sponsored military tributes.

Funds were used for on-field flag ceremonies, color guards and other tributes to welcome home Veterans from 2012-2015.

They money came out of the armed forces budget and was being paid to the NFL to serve as recruitment advertising.
