NEW YORK (WHDH) - Hackers appeared to have taken control of the NFL’s Twitter account on Tuesday afternoon, posting several messages including one suggesting that Commissioner Roger Goodell is dead.
A post that appeared after noon EST on Tuesday said that Roger Goodell had died. After the NFL quickly deleted the tweet, another showed up in its place and can be seen below:
That post was also deleted.
The NFL’s Twitter page appeared to have several other posts that were subsequently deleted. One, which was captured in a screenshot by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, said “OK, OK, you amateur detectives win. Good job”
The NFL confirmed to NBC Nightly News that Commissioner Goodell is “alive and well.”
