MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — An inmate at a New Hampshire county jail is accused of offering money to a fellow inmate to kill his girlfriend.

Ciro Scognamiglio of Hillsborough has been in jail since he was arrested on a charge of second-degree assault in October. Police said he was accused of assaulting his girlfriend.

Officials at the Valley Street Jail told police they developed information about the offer. The 59-year-old Scognamiglio was charged Monday with criminal solicitation to murder.

It wasn't immediately known if he had a lawyer.
