New Hampshire police have arrested a man after he was found inside a stranger’s home.
On Feb. 21 at 11 p.m., officers arrived at a home in Manchester, New Hampshire for a reported burglary in progress. The caller said a resident of the multi-family home was actively fighting with an unknown man in the basement level of the building.
Officers located Steven Gott, 43 and arrested Tobiah Scott, 29 of Manchester. Gott noticed the basement light on with the door slightly ajar, so he checked the basement area minutes before police arrived.
According to police, Gott saw Scott hiding behind the boiler system while holding a flashlight and a screwdriver. He call 911 and then a physical struggle ensued.
Scott allegedly attempted to flee the basement, so Gott tackled him to prevent him from leaving before police arrived. They were actively engaged in a wrestling match when police arrived.
Police determined Scott had no legitimate purpose for being inside the home, so he was charged with burglary. He will appear in court on Monday.
