SALEM, N.H. (WHDH) - A Salem, NH woman was arrested after allegedly attacking a Bank of America employee Thursday.
Salem police responded to the Bank of America on N. Broadway for a report of an irate customer around 4:15 p.m.
According to police, officer spoke with the branch manager and learned the customer became irate when an employee refused to cash a check for her.
The woman then allegedly picked up a large metal three-hole punch from a desk and hit the manager on the head. Police said the woman then jumped on the manager, pulled her hair, and slammed her up against a wall.
The woman said she was strangled to the point where she could not call for help.
According to police, other employees at the bank heard the commotion and stepped in to stop the assault.
A male employee was struck in the back of the neck, and scratched by the suspect.
The suspect fled the bank in a car, and was stopped a short distance away by police.
Police identified the suspect as 35-year-old Leanne Yerian of Salem, NH.
Yerian was arrested and charged with one count of second degree assault, strangulation, and two counts of simple assault.
She was held on $5,000 cash bail and was arraigned in the 10th Circuit Court District Division—Salem.
