A woman was injured after her car struck a utility pole in Rochester Friday night.

Rochester police received reports that the pole and the car were smoking, and that there were sparks coming from the pole.

According to Rochester police, it was also reported that the driver had visible injuries and was not very responsive.

When police arrived, they found 25-year-old Ashley Privett of Somersworth inside a blue Nissan Sentra.

Police said both the pole and the car were heavily damaged.

Privett was taken to Frisbie Memorial Hospital for serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Rochester Hill Road was shut down between Profile Apartments and Sky Haven Airport due to the damage to the pole. There was a temporary power outage as utility crews repaired the pole.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
