Baby, it’s…not that cold outside! Chilly, yes…but not frigid or bitter. Today will be much cooler than yesterday as temps stay in the low 40s (a cranky, cold wind makes it feel like the upper 30s) and clouds are all over the place! An ocean storm passing south of New England today is the reason for the clouds, chilly north wind and seasonal temps. Showers are also likely along the South Coast/Cape/islands from this storm. Farther north–metro Boston/South Shore–a few sprinkles are possible but nothing more. Typical early December day–dark & chilly.

Tomorrow offers more clouds with seasonal temps—mid 40s—but much less wind. In fact, the direction of the wind changes from the north to the south and this southerly flow of air will eventually bring mild air back into the region. Thursday is that day. This southerly flow of air will send temps from the upper 30s into the mid 50s by afternoon. This southerly flow will also lead to clouds once again as well as a few morning showers.

By Friday and into the upcoming weekend, we hold the southerly flow of air but lose the threat of rain. Late week and into the upcoming weekend looks quite nice with afternoon temps running from the upper 50s to the low 60s…way above normal (44) for this time of year.

Still no strong signals of a major pattern change in the next 7-10 days…IE…no snow in the forecast.
