It’s nothing we can’t handle.  We’ve certainly seen worse.  We’re New Englanders, right?!  However – In my opinion, all things are relative.  When you compare today’s weather to the last week or so, this morning looks like a storm.  Our Wednesday will be wet and windy… but we’re also moving through the worst of it this morning.  At the end of the day though, it is a Nor’easter (regardless of the size), and we need to be cautious and allow for extra time on the roads today.  It may be a slow-go with ponding on the roads and slick spots.

But wait!  Some on Twitter this morning are asking, "Where’s my rain???"  Many areas in MetroWest are missing out on the much needed soaking, with the focus of this precip really on the South Shore, Cape and Islands.  As of 6:00am, Boston has picked up 0.4"; Bedford just 0.2"; and Worcester with 0.1".  Compare that to close to 1.5" in Hyannis, and near 1.7" in Mashpee.  Remember though, it doesn’t take much rain to make for slick roads, and our piles of leaves on the ground will also add insult to injury.  Leaves make things SLICK, but they also can clog drains.  This could make very little rain look like a whole lot in some spots.

Now, it’s not just about the rain… and something you may notice more than the wet weather will be the gusty winds.  Winds along the coast have been gusting between 25-35mph with some areas seeing closer to 40mph gusts (Plymouth).  The Wind Advisory for Cape Ann down to Cape Cod and the Islands will stay in effect through 7pm.  These winds are strong enough to potentially cause downed tree limbs and maybe even minor power outages.

While the winds will still be feisty this afternoon, we should see the shower activity taper to more of a drizzle.  It’s a raw, very "November-like" day ahead of us today.  Some clearing is expected overnight tonight, but showers are expected to return late tomorrow afternoon/evening.  We’ll take every drop we can get!

Happy Veterans Day!
