The New York Archdiocese and other state officials have condemned the reselling of tickets to see Pope Francis when he visits New York next week.

The Archbishop and New York Sen. Chuck Schumer are asking those with tickets to not resell them. Schumer even went so far as to call it blasphemy.

"I will ask anyone who received the tickets in the lotteries not to sell them online," said Schumer. "I will ask those who want to see the Pope not to purchase tickets online because in a certain sense it blasphemes a beautiful and Holy event."

The archdiocese had offered thousands of free tickets in a lottery. Some of the tickets have since turned up for sale on eBay and Craigslist for hundreds of dollars.
