CHELSEA, MASS. (WHDH) - The bomb squad was called to a hotel in Chelsea early Wednesday morning after officials say a man was found in his car with a large amount of drugs.

It happened around 2:30 a.m. at the Wyndham Hotel, right off of Everett Avenue.

The 31-year-old man East Boston man was subdued and rushed to the hospital, where police say he said things that made them believe he may have been making crystal meth inside of the car.

The hazardous materials crew reportedly entered the car in the parking lot and removed some items to be processed as evidence.

They reported there were no hazardous materials found in the car, but there was enough crystal meth found to charge the suspect with distribution or trafficking.

At least one bomb squad technician from the State Police Department assisted in the investigation.

The suspect was not staying at the hotel, and officials say there was never a threat to anyone staying at the hotel, so an evacuation was not necessary.

They are still trying to figure out where the meth came from.
