CAMBRIDGE, MASS. (WHDH) - School officials and Cambridge Police confirmed Thursday that anti-Semitic graffiti was found in several bathrooms at Cambridge Rindge and Latin School.
School officials said swastikas and anti-Semitic messages were found spray-painted in prominent spots inside three boys bathrooms and two girls bathrooms at the school.
“It’s really shocking and upsetting to me,” said Karen Parmett, who is Jewish and has two children at the school. “As part of the diversity, as part of the district’s mission statement, it’s really important to the community and this is a threat to that.”
In a message posted on the district’s website, school officials said counseling will be offered to any students or staff who need it. Cambridge Police also said they are helping the school district investigate.
Statement from Cambridge Superintendent Dr. Kenneth Salim:
“We are committed to providing a safe learning environment for students and a workplace for staff. In the aftermath of discovering these upsetting symbols of hate, we will continue to affirm our community’s values of diversity, inclusion and respect.”
