Emergency crews responded to a large fire in Somerville Thursday night on Rush Street.
Flames could be seen shooting out of the side of the three-story apartment building as smoke filled the streets.
According to the Somerville fire chief, nine apartments were involved in the fire, which started at 9 p.m.
The fire chief believes the fire began in a center unit. He believes the fire became so dangerous that firefighters had to exit the home in order to fight the fire.
Streets in the area have been blocked off to allow firefighters to gain access to the home.
One person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Everyone has now been accounted for and the fire has been knocked down.
Part of the building collapsed from the damage but the fire was contained to the one unit.
The fire investigators and a board-up crew are still on scene as they investigate the cause of the fire.
