BROCKTON, MASS. (WHDH) - An investigation is underway after a toddler was found unresponsive in a Brockton home.
The 2-year-old was rushed to the hospital and later died from his injuries.
“He was always in their hands coming in and out of the car,” said a neighbor.
The neighbor says the child, along with his mother and a man, moved onto the street a few month ago.
She said they live on the second floor of an East Main apartment home, where police were called last Monday because the toddler was unresponsive.
“I’d seen a bunch of police and ambulance but I didn’t know what had happened. I didn’t know about the little boy – it’s’ real sad,” said the neighbor.
The boy was rushed to Brockton Hospital.
Authorities say his injuries were so severe that he was taken by medical helicopter to Mass General where he died on Saturday.
The family was new to the area, so few knew them and many said they didn’t ask what was wrong or check it out. Many minded their own business when emergency officials arrived.
The Department of Children and Families are also investigating.
DCF had no history with the family.
