The Coast Guard responded to a 37 foot Cape Ann Harbor Cruise boat taking on water outside of Gloucester Harbor on Saturday night.
Just after 4:30 p.m., officials received a mayday call from the captain of the ship. According to the Coast Guard, the ship, named ‘King Eider,’ was taking on water with 34 people aboard.
Members of the command center sent an urgent marine broadcast to aid the ship.
Pumps were engaged on board. The ‘King Eider’ was towed into Gloucester Harbor by a charter fishing ship that responded.
Once inside the harbor, the Coast Guard motor life boat crew continued to tow the ship to land.
The ship arrived into the harbor around 6 p.m., all passengers were safe.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the flooding is unknown at this time.
