BOSTON (AP) — Repairs to one of the two bridges connecting Cape Cod to mainland Massachusetts have wrapped up ahead of schedule.

The completion of the work on the Sagamore Bridge means crews will be start work sooner on the other span, the Bourne Bridge.

All lanes of traffic will be open on the Sagamore Bridge as of Sunday, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced Friday. That’s about a month earlier than expected.

Work on the Bourne Bridge wasn’t slated to start until the fall. But with the extra time, the Corps said it expects to now finish the job by Memorial Day.

The project includes the repair of structural steel supports and lighting components and the installation of some new lighting, cables and conduits.

During the project, traffic will be restricted to a singe lane in each direction.
