A thief’s getaway took a dangerous turn at a Macy’s store in Ohio.

The suspect took a tumble off the escalator as he was trying to out run officers.

Marcel Wallace, 22, tried to make a run for it.

“As he tried to go down the up escalator, there was a uniformed Miami Township officer coming up the escalator,” Capt. John Magill, of the Miami Township Police, said.

When there was nowhere left to run, he jumped.

“The officer tried to catch him, got ahold of his legs, tried to hold on to him,” Magill said. “The man kicked at the officer and fell, landed on his head.”

Minutes later, police said Wallace was caught switching price tags at Macy’s.

He had his sister, a cashier at the store, ring up three coats valued at $620 dollars for $26.

Marcel and his sister, 19-year-old Jessica Wallace, are looking at misdemeanor theft charges, but police said that could change.
