DORCHESTER, Mass. (WHDH) – One person is dead on Wednesday after a shooting in Dorchester on Esmond St., according to police.

The shooting happened at around 9:30 a.m. at 85 Esmond St.

The incident was the result of an attempted armed robbery. According to Boston Police, the homeowner was also armed and shot one of the suspects. The victim is believed to be one of the suspects, who died instantly.

The homeowner has not been charged and is currently being interviewed by police.

One of the home invasion suspects has been apprehended.

The investigation is still ongoing with police conducting interviews with neighbors to see if anybody heard anything. At this point, no arraignments are expected.
