One person was injured Saturday after an explosion at a Texas refinery.

Police said the explosion happened inside the Pasadena Refining System Saturday morning when a compressor flashed and released diesel fuel.

They said one person was hospitalized but there is no word on the extent of the injuries.

Plant officials told authorities there was no danger to the public and no chemicals were released.

"The fire has been contained, and the facility is in a safe condition," Vance Mitchell of the Pasadena Police Department said.

Police said an investigation to determine a more exact cause will be conducted once the equipment is deemed safe.

The Washburn Tunnel, which is nearby and runs beneath the Houston Ship Channel, was closed in both directions.
