One person was killed in a shooting in Beverly Saturday night, according to the Essex County District Attorney.

According to the DA, police responded to a shooting in a home on Ropes Street around 10:30 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found a 21-year-old man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was taken to Beverly Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The victim has not yet been identified.

The suspect, 19-year-old Justice Galarza of Beckford St., later turned himself into police.

Galarza was charged with murder, and will be arraigned Monday in Salem District Court.

The incident remains under investigation, and it is believed that the two individuals involved in the shooting knew each other prior to the incident.
