One woman was killed in a 2-alarm fire on Tonawanda Street in Dorchester Tuesday, according to Boston Fire Department.
Firefighters found the woman on the first floor and she was transported to Mass General by Boston EMS, where she was pronounced dead. She was in her 60’s.
Two firefighters were treated and transported by EMS, one with a cut to the neck, another with a leg injury.
The chief reported the fire was knocked down around 3:30 p.m.
This is the second fatal fire in Boston for 2015.
Damage was estimated at $300,000. Five residents were displaced from the 2-family home, according to the chief.
BFD, Boston Police, and the Suffolk County DA’s office will jointly investigate the fire. The cause is believed to be an electrical problem.
